This follows the success of Big Little Lies, a sharp look at female friendships and the secrets they hide even from themselves. At 51, she is enjoying herself as she publicises her eighth adult novel – and before she had polished the final manuscript, Nicole Kidman’s production company had snapped up the screen rights. It would be fair to say Moriarty is having the last laugh, and it’s a deep, joyous chuckle. That’s a little Moriarty joke because “the fact is that Frances as a romance novelist would not be invited to writers’ festivals, just as I was not invited to writers’ festivals for many years”. ![]()
